Barry Kalmin - Partner
Barry Kalmin studied Accounting at the University of the Witwatersrand and graduated in 1978. He completed his articles at Pollard & Lewin Chartered Accountants and started his own practice in the next year. In 1984 he became a member of the South African Institute of Professional Accountants.
Marc Serfontein - Partner
Marc Serfontein studied B Com. Marketing at the University of Pretoria. He then changed direction after qualifying in 1993 and joined Barry as an articled clerk in 1995 whilst studying Accounting part-time at the Universities of Johannesburg and Pretoria. After completing his studies and the required 3-year article period, he became a junior partner in the new partnership (Kalmin, Serfontein & Associates) in 1997.
Sadiyya Ebrahim - Accountant
Sadiyya joined us from another accounting firm in May 2014. Sadiyya studied B. Com Information Technology at the University of Johannesburg. During the COVID-19 lock-down period she made productive use of her time and applied for and was accredited as a registered Business Accountant (SA) by the South African Institute for Business Accountants (SAIBA).
Grant Thornicroft - Accountant
Grant joined our firm as an independent consultant in March 2021 to assist with a specific project. He has many years of experience and is our Pastel and Sage One expert. He studied auditing and used to work for a client of ours. Grant works flexi-time but is usually in the office Tuesday to Thursday.
Penny Jackson- Personal Assistant
Penny has been with the firm since 2006 and works from home and is in the office on Friday afternoons only. She can be contacted per e-mail.
